Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is eyeing up a ‘surprise swap’ deal with Inter Milan that would see Spurs exchange Emerson Royal for Denzel Dumfries.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who cover the ‘indecent proposal’ that could be put on the table by the former Nerazzurri manager.
They explain that Conte’s two-way link with Italy, which has already seen the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur, Dejan Kulusevski and Ivan Perisic move to England to join him at Tottenham is ‘unbroken’ and ‘continues to be present’.
He maintains strong relationships in his home country, particularly with his former club, whose doors he ‘may come knocking again’ on in January.
Conte wants Denzel Dumfries to reinforce Tottenham’s right-back spot, having been impressed by the Dutchman’s performances.
He’s been targeted by Chelsea for some time but Tottenham’s ‘raid’ could change the situation considerably.
Inter value him at €50m, yet Spurs could look to bring that down by introducing a ‘bargaining chip’ in the form of Emerson Royal.
He is not convincing in London, with Conte continuing to use him but not getting the ‘desired answers’ from him.
The manager wants to change up the right-back position with Dumfries and it remains to be seen whether a potential proposal put forward by Tottenham, a cash deal plus Emerson, would convince Inter to sell.
They’re said to be considering the deal and Emerson will now be the subject of ‘in-depth evaluations’ ahead of January.
