Stade Rennais have completed the loan deal for Tottenham defender Joe Rodon, with an announcement expected imminently.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who say a deal has now been concluded with Tottenham for the Welsh defender.
They report that Rodon will join Bologna’s Arthur Theate in strengthening Rennais’ backline this summer, with the latter arriving in a €20m deal from the Italian side.
Stade Rennais were keen to recruit at least two central defenders this summer and the arrival of Rodon on loan from Tottenham will conclude the French side’s business on that front.
He will join on loan initially but the deal includes an option to buy at the end of it, which L’Equipe say is estimated to be worth €20m.
Whether that is activated will be determined by how Rodon performs during his time in France, where he will be hoping to kickstart his career once again.
He’s been somewhat frozen out at Tottenham since a move from Swansea in October 2020 and, having seemingly been told he will not be a part of Antonio Conte’s plans this season, has now made a temporary exit for football elsewhere.
