Feyenoord manager Arne Slot would be wise to ignore interest from the likes of Tottenham and remain where he is before joining a ‘top foreign club’ later in his career.
That’s according to former Feyenoord assistant manager Zeljko Petrovic, who has been speaking to NOS, relayed by Soccer News.
Several reports have put Slot on Tottenham’s list of potential replacements for Antonio Conte, with Spurs currently scouring the market for the man to take charge in the summer.
Slot has earned himself attention for his work at Feyenoord, which has seen Feyenoord leading the Eredivisie table by eight points over giants Ajax and PSV Eindhoven.
They have only lost one game all season and impressed with an attractive brand of football that has earned admiring glances from the Premier League.
“Slot has further developed the team with his own idea of playing football,” he stated to NOS.
“The fitness of the team, the way he plays with a lot of pressure, high tempo and a good structure in the team.
“What he does is unprecedented. I find it a pleasure to watch. In addition, Slot has the favour factor. A neat guy, good with his words. Fantastic.
“I am sure there will be nice clubs for him, but Feyenoord is also a nice club. Feyenoord will strengthen with the money from the Champions League. Then Slot can continue here for years to come.
“He can now go to a club in England, where he has to fight against relegation. Or he can stay at Feyenoord, become another champion and then go to a top foreign club where he plays for prizes. He deserves that.”
