Over the past week or so, the idea that Mauricio Pochettino could make a surprise return to Tottenham has picked up pace.
Allegedly unhappy with the way some of the things are done at Paris Saint-Germain, the Argentine manager hasn’t exactly come out to dismiss the rumours surrounding his future and possible reunion with Daniel Levy, and that’s left the Ligue 1 club a bit perplexed.
Le Parisien look at it on Tuesday, explaining that ‘everything could be simpler’ if he’d done just that, and the feeling is as if he ‘doesn’t want to close any door regarding his future’.
The fact Kylian Mbappé has yet to renew is key in all this, and Pochettino was ‘expecting a more solid and more professional structure’ within the club.
Le Parisien state the signals sent by the manager are ‘as if he’s preparing the ground for a divorce’, with the question of ‘what’s the point of keeping a manager who doesn’t want to be there’ asked.
Even if Leonardo has come out and said he’s ‘very happy’ with the former Tottenham manager, nothing has come from the man in question, and a departure from Pochettino ‘would be felt like a bomb’ within the Ligue 1 side.
Either way, the club chief’s words suggest that any club, whether it be Spurs or any other, would need to buy out the remaining years in the manager’s contract, and that would surely come at a price.
