Antonio Conte’s contract expires in June and Tottenham Hotspur have an option to extend it further by a year, which they haven’t exercised yet.
The manager’s future beyond this season remains unclear and he’s being linked with a move back to Italy.
Conte joined Tottenham in November 2021, months after leaving Inter Milan after helping them win the title in the 2020/21 season.
Simone Inzaghi was appointed as his successor at the San Siro and the Spurs coach is in contention to replace his compatriot at Inter in the summer. That’s according to Italian journalist Alfio Musmarra, who claims there has been contact between the 53-year-old and the Serie A side.
“I was checking the coaching issue in view of next season and I received the completely unexpected news of contact between Antonio Conte and someone within Inter,” he said, as quoted by FcInter1908.
The journalist adds the Nerazzurri aren’t the only ones looking at the Tottenham manager as Juventus are keeping tabs on him for next season. Conte won three titles with the Old Lady between 2011 and 2014.
“Juventus is on Conte and Inter strategically cannot afford to lose a coach like this, who keeps the bar high for you and who can lead you to win,” he explained.
“At the moment, Inzaghi cannot be judged in some ways, because all the scenarios can change based on his progress in the Champions League. It is therefore right for the company to make its assessments and possibly not get discovered. Let’s stay tuned and see how the situation develops.”
Inter are second in the table with 50 points and are 15 points ahead of Juve, who are sixth.
