Tottenham goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini is planning to return to Italy this summer, with his loan deal unlikely to be turned into a permanent one.
That’s according to La Lazio Siamo Noi, who say Lazio are ready to welcome him to the club as their new number one.
They explain that it will be a ‘hot summer’ for Lazio, who are preparing for a ‘mini-revolution’ after bringing Maurizio Sarri to the club last year.
Between expiring players and possible departures, the Biancoceleste management is looking around so they can complete the squad, and Gollini is one they are looking at.
His name ‘was also mentioned’ during talks with those representing Matteo Pessina, who they met with a few months ago.
Lazio are planning talks with Atalanta for Pessina, and Gollini ‘could also be discussed’ as a part of them as he’s set to return from Tottenham.
He’s been on loan there since the summer but is ‘not finding space’ at the club, particularly under Antonio Conte, who has stuck with Hugo Lloris for the most part.
Thus Gollini will go back to Italy and ‘look for a new adventure’ somewhere other than Tottenham, something Lazio can offer him.
They could be set to lose goalkeepers Thomas Strakosha and Pepe Reina this summer, so they will need a new number one. Gollini could fill that hole nicely should it open up.
They’re ‘also on his trail’ ahead of the summer and, with talks planned for Pessina, could make their move.
