In dire need of attacking reinforcements before the end of the transfer window, both Manchester United and Tottenham have been working the market for the right deal.
Big names like Edinson Cavani have been mentioned, yet the likelihood of a deal of that size happening remains low, and it’s players like Willian José or Islam Slimani that remain the more realistic targets.
Regarding the latter, RMC Sport come with an article on Monday afternoon explaining Manchester United and Spurs have made a first move for the Leicester City player, ‘asking for information’.
Currently on loan at Monaco in Ligue 1, the Algeria international has been touted with a January move to another club, and it appears both Old Trafford and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could be viable destinations for him.
RMC explain the two Premier League clubs have ‘entered discussions’ with the player’s entourage about a move before the end of the month.
It’s said both teams are after a new forward and are ‘exploring the Slimani avenue more and more’.
He’d certainly be an extra body up front, but with eight goals and six assists in 39 Premier League appearances for both Leicester City and Newcastle, it remains to be seen if he’s the right man for the job.
Then again, beggars can’t be choosers, and we’ll have to wait and see if Brendan Rodgers’ side agree to any potential bid that is made down the line.
