Having failed to make an appearance for Sampdoria to date following his loan there from Tottenham, Harry Winks isn’t having the best of seasons.
The midfielder was meant to get the game time he wouldn’t receive under Antonio Conte in Italy, but an ankle issue has kept him out for the first half of the season.
He did a lot of training to try and fix it, but nothing seemed to work, which led to him and Tottenham considering an operation.
Well, that has been done, according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who reported the news late on Monday in an article looking at the fitness levels of the Sampdoria squad.
They state the Tottenham man, on Monday afternoon, ‘underwent arthroscopic cleaning of his left ankle’ at the San Rossore Clinic in Pisa.
The operation was described as ‘perfectly successful’, and was performed by Professor Niek Van Dijk, who was assisted by Angelo Presta, Sampdoria’s doctor and orthopedist.
This means Winks will be out for quite some time, and the Tottenham midfielder ‘will start the rehabilitation phase in the coming days.
Prior to his move to Sampdoria, the 26-year-old had made 203 appearances for Spurs in all competitions, scoring five goals and assisting another six.
