Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has told Giovanni Lo Celso that he ‘will not be considered’ by him next season.
That’s according to TNT Sports Argentina, with that likely to be music to the ears of his current club Villarreal.
Lo Celso has been with the Spanish side since the January transfer window when Tottenham elected to let him and several other players leave on loan.
The Argentine has since flourished for the La Liga club, becoming a key player under Unai Emery with a series of impressive performances in La Liga and the club’s run to the Champions League semi-finals.
What happens in the summer remains to be seen, but it appears Conte has made it clear that another transfer will be on the cards.
And that will suit Villarreal, with journalist Xavi Jorquera Márquez reporting that they have made signing Lo Celso permanently ‘a priority’.
According to his information, the club’s board are ‘already looking for ways’ to bring Lo Celso back to the club.
One ‘stumbling block’ is the wages he currently picks up at Tottenham, which would seemingly be too high for Villarreal, whose finances are significantly smaller, to match.
It’s an issue to be addressed, like his transfer fee, but with Conte seemingly putting the midfielder up for sale, that’s one major problem out of the way.
