Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur believes that Liverpool star Darwin Núñez has “matured a lot” at Anfield and is living the ultimate dream for club and country.

The Tottenham man has been speaking to Sport 890, relayed by ESPN, in his homeland regarding various issues, including those he plays alongside for the national team.

One of them is Liverpool star Darwin Núñez, who is again shining for the Reds at the start of the Premier League season.

Despite not fully establishing himself as the first-choice striker under Jurgen Klopp, he has a tally of four goals and three assists in nine games in the Premier League so far as well as two goals and two assists in three games in the Europa League.

It means he’s continuing to build on a solid start to life at Liverpool after arriving last season in an €80m deal from Benfica, with him bagging 15 goals and four assists in 42 games in all competitions last season.

Some had questioned whether those numbers were good enough given the money spent on him, and the fact he was seen as Liverpool’s answer to Manchester City signing Erling Haaland.

But the Tottenham man sees no problems at all, and simply believes the striker is living his best life for club and country.

“It seems that Darwin has matured a lot,” he said.

“And number 9, I think he also deserves it a little for all the work he has done. The only thing he has to do is enjoy himself and try to have fun.

“It is the most beautiful thing to be in a club like Liverpool and defend the National Team, which is the ultimate dream that a player has.”
