Tottenham defender Danny Rose saw a deadline day move to Trabzonspor scuppered by Coronavirus regulations.
That’s according to FotoSpor, who say that the Turkish side couldn’t not overcome COVID-19 rules and so decided to wait until the end of the season instead.
Rose was heavily linked with a move to Turkey during the January transfer window, having been frozen out at Tottenham under Jose Mourinho this season.
His contract with Spurs expires in the summer but reports across last month indicated he already had an agreement in place with Trabzonspor and would be making the move to Turkey early on a free transfer.
However, as deadline day passed and the window shit, Rose had not left Tottenham, instead staying at the club until the end of the season.
Reports in England stated that he had decided against the switch, but FotoSpor say it was actually COVID regulations that scuppered things.
They explain that Trabzonspor had everything agreed with Rose to make the move but decided to leave the move until the summer to avoid contradicting the rules imposed by the Ministry of Health.
Those rules state that anyone arriving from England has to go into a seven-day quarantine and Rose, who only had three days left, wouldn’t have time for a medical.
Thus, the club decided to not ‘risk the player’ and left the transfer until the end of the season, when Rose will be leaving Tottenham one way or another.
