As all Tottenham fans will be aware, Tanguy Ndombélé is currently far away from London, on loan at Napoli.
This was a move that suited everyone involved, since Antonio Conte had no interest in using the French midfielder, while the Serie A side wanted a bit more depth, and saw the ideal opportunity present itself.
The deal initially cost them a mere €500k, according to Corriere dello Sport on Friday, and it’s known that Napoli have a €25m option to buy the player from Tottenham for good.
Whether they trigger that remains to be seen, but there have been recent reports that they are thinking about it, and the newspaper hint at everyone being happy with Ndombélé in their report.
They state he ‘gradually regained his fitness’ during the early stages of the season, and he now ‘seems ready to do whatever Luciano Spalletti asks of him’, whether that is to play in the hole or as a mezzala.
He has totalled 737 minutes of football so far, far more than he would have ever received at Tottenham, and the deal is seen as a huge ‘bargain’ for the Italians.
It’s clear the second half of the campaign will be decisive for the Spurs man’s future, but the more he plays, the likelier Napoli will be tempted to send Daniel Levy that money.
