Villarreal are negotiating with Tottenham over a permanent move for Juan Foyth but want to bring him into the club at a reduced price.
That’s according to El Periódico Mediterráneo, who say getting the Argentine is a ‘priority’ for the Europa League champions.
The newspaper explains that after their success against Manchester United, the club are already working to build the squad for next season.
Foyth is a target after shining under Unai Emery this seasons, and while they have a €15m option to sign the centre-back, they want to reduce that figure.
Due to the current economic situation, the Spaniards hope that Tottenham, who renewed Foyth’s deal until 2023, will ‘lower the cost’ of the operation.
At the moment, the clubs CEO, Fernando Roig Negueroles, is negotiating with Tottenham over the possibility of getting Foyth ‘for a slightly lower price’.
They are aware that the player wants to continue with the club and leave England, where he has hardly been given any opportunities since his arrival.
He’s proven his worth under Emery this season, and so the Yellow Submarine need to ‘intensify negotiations’ to acquire him on a permanent basis.
That is what they are doing, and the Spanish side have ‘set the wheels in motion’ to reduce his purchase option and sign him from Tottenham.
