It’s quite clear that Tanguy Ndombélé wasn’t the happiest of footballers at Tottenham, but the extent of his discontent appears to have come to light.
The player had clearly had a falling out with Antonio Conte, who then pushed the midfielder to one side at Spurs, which led to a January exit late on in the transfer window.
There was a belief that Paris Saint-Germain were looking at the player, with Mauricio Pochettino keen to reunite with him, but it’s Lyon, his former club, who ended up winning the race, bringing him back on loan for the next six months.
An option to buy at €65m was also mentioned, which is a tall order for a Ligue 1 club, meaning there’s a strong chance he could return to Tottenham once the season ends.

That might be something he’ll want to avoid if possible, as the player, in an interview to be aired on Sunday, says he ‘lost the taste for football’.
This was teased by Julien Maynard, who conducted the interview for TF1, as he reveals he talked to the Spurs man about ‘his return to Lyon, his situation at Tottenham, the talks with Paris Saint-Germain, his ambitions with OK and the France national team’.
A further teaser tweet, this time by Téléfoot, with the same quote, also has a video, where the player admits he knows he has to ‘show certain things’ because he ‘didn’t play at Tottenham’, before explaining that a successful loan for him would involve ‘good performances, ending up in the top 3 (in Ligue 1) and why not win the cup in Europe’.
