Christian Eriksen publicly expressed in June his desire to leave Tottenham Hotspur, but his efforts to find a new club weren’t successful.

Three days ago, the Denmark international admitted his comments about wanting to leave Spurs were not wrong, while he refused to provide an update as to where he will play beyond this season.

His contract with Mauricio Pochettino’s side runs out in 2020 and over the past few days, reports in Italy have talked about Inter Milan’s interest in the 27-year-old.

Spurs earlier tried to extend the former Ajax man’s contract, but were left disappointed in their efforts.

FcInterNews now explains Tottenham will make a fresh attempt to tie down the player to a new contract in the next few days. They plan to offer a new five-year deal with a net salary of €7.5m/year, but the feeling is they are still looking to cash in on him.

The Nerazzurri are looking at the Dane, but there are other suitors. The report adds Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are studying the possibility of signing the player on a free transfer next summer, along with Inter and Juventus.

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio made contact with Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots in mid-June to probe the ground and has kept contacts alive with the representative since then.

FcInterNews adds there will be an auction for Eriksen (if he doesn’t accept Spurs’ new contract offer) and Inter will be among the clubs in the front row.
