Tottenham Hotspur have submitted an ‘official offer’ for the signing of Porto star Luis Diaz, according to reports from Portugal.
The news was broken on Tuesday by SIC Notícias journalist Pedro Sepulveda, who brought the ‘exclusive’ information about Spurs’ effort.
He claims that Tottenham put on the table ‘€45m plus performance bonuses’, and told Porto they have 48 hours to give them an answer.
It turns out that Portuguese outlet Record later confirmed the information. They point out, however, that the amount is ‘far’ from the player’s release clause, which stands at €80m.
Luis Diaz had a great Copa America for Colombia, being the tournament’s top scorer, and has been doing great for Porto as well, with 16 goals scored this season.
That’s why he’s been linked to several top clubs, and the word in Portugal has been that only the release clause would make the Dragons let him go in the middle of the season.
Now with Porto having an offer from Tottenham in hands, we shall see how they’ll react.
