Tottenham Hotspur are today again being pointed out as a potential destination for Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij.

Outlet Il Interista features a story about the Nerazzurri players who have contracts expiring at the end of the season and could walk away for free, with the 30-year-old being one of them.

The report says a good reason for De Vrij to leave Inter Milan is interest from Premier League sides. On that note, ‘Antonio Conte’s Tottenham’ get a mention, with the story recalling that the manager worked with the defender in Italy and is still a ‘great admirer’.

It’s said Spurs, as well as Newcastle United, already ‘made contact with his entourage’ to ‘test the ground’ regarding a possible move in the next summer window.

De Vrij continues to be a regular starter at Inter Milan, and that’s why the Nerazzurri are obviously expected to continue trying to hand him a contract extension. While that doesn’t happen, Tottenham continue dreaming of signing him for free, and can use Antonio Conte as bait to attract him to North London.

The Dutchman joined Inter Milan in 2018 after running his contract down with Lazio, so it’s conceivable he’s thinking of a similar move now.
