Tottenham Hotspur loanee Sergio Reguilon is having at the weekend his farewell from Atletico Madrid.
Despite spending nearly the entire season on the bench, he’s expected to start in Diego Simeone’s side against Villarreal.
Spanish outlet AS features a story to talk about Reguilon’s farewell match at Atletico, and it turns out they end up tearing apart the season he’s just had at the club.
It’s claimed that the fullback’s time with the Colchoneros was ‘irrelevant and disappointing’, especially because of the injuries he had since arriving from Tottenham.
Reguilon only made 11 appearances for Atletico Madrid, with 233 minutes played, and that’s why it’s even a shock that he gets starts at the end of the season.
He played against Real Sociedad at the weekend, it’s claimed that he’s shown to be ‘rather erratic and nervous, noticing his lack of rhythm’.
With AS saying this was a season ‘to forget’, it’s clear that Atletico Madrid won’t move a finger to keep him from Tottenham. Once he returns to Spain, he still has a contract running until 2025, and we shall see what the club will do to him.
