Sent the other way as compensation for allowing Georges-Kévin N’Koudou to transfer from Marseille to Tottenham, Clinton N’Jié’s start to the season at his new club isn’t going too well.

Missing some key chances early on under Franck Passi, the 23-year-old is now in grave danger of sitting on the bench for the foreseeable future, according to L’Equipe.

N’Jié, alongside his teammate Bouna Sarr, hasn’t impressed Marseille’s new manager Rudi Garcia, especially during their last game against Montpellier, which they lost 3-1.

Played as a striker to compensate for Bafétimbi Gomis’ absence, the forward only lasted 76 minutes and needs to do more if he wants to continue to play.

Already very disappointing during the 0-0 against Paris Saint-Germain, it appears N’Jié is currently on strike two, a sign that could start worrying Marseille because of the buy-out clause in his loan deal.

Reported by RMC as being automatic after a number of appearances, Marseille would have to pay €7m to Tottenham, a fee they will want to avoid having to hand over if Rudi Garcia falls out with the player.

With seven appearances for the Ligue 1 side so far, scoring one goal and picking up one assist, the Cameroon international might have to start thinking about a return to London if he can’t start performing to Garcia’s standards.
