There are some transfer stories in the Portuguese press that just get carried away.

As Liverpool and especially Tottenham fans have been reading, both clubs are said to be interested in Bruno Fernandes from Sporting.

The midfielder has the biggest release clause in Portuguese football, which is €100m. That’s the reason why Sporting would be pretty calm about this interest.

Local papers have been saying that only a very good bid would convince the Lions to sell him in the next transfer window. That is, something close to the release clause.

A Bola now comes up with a story saying this clause can only be activated between May 15th and June 15th. And this 30-days period would be an ‘opportunity’ for Liverpool, Tottenham or any other club that wants him.

That’s exactly what you’ve read. Signing Bruno Fernandes for €100m would be the bargain, because after that, Sporting could ‘demand any price they want’.

We’re still not sure if it’s the transfer market or Sporting who have gone crazy. In any case, Liverpool and Tottenham better prepare their pockets if they want Bruno.
