On Thursday, The Mirror reported that Tottenham Hotspur would be interested in the Genoa striker Giovanni Simeone.
The story obviously got a lot of attention because of the player being son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, who played with Mauricio Pochettino for the Argentine national team.
But no other outlets really came with many other details about the chase, making it sound like an English claim that would come and go.
However, Tuttosport have covered the rumours, calling the player’s future a ‘puzzle’, as he’s also been linked to Italian sides Fiorentina and Torino.
Regarding the possibilities of a transfer, to Tottenham or elsewhere Tuttosport admit it could be a good opportunity for Genoa to sell him, but only in case they get what they’re demanding, which is €20m.
The 22-year-old was signed from Argentine side River Plate last summer for €5m. He had an impressive season in his first year in Europe, being a starter in most of Genoa’s games and scoring 13 goals.
Tottenham would likely hit the Harry Kane problem in trying to sign Simeone, with the Argentine knowing he’d be back-up to the Spurs’ hero.
