Fanatik report Tottenham Hotspur are considering recalling Vincent Janssen from Fenerbahce, and the Turkish club are ‘surprised’ by the Premier League side’s intentions.

Fanatik say Tottenham could activate a clause in the loan agreement which would see Janssen head back to England. The newspaper say when the Dutch striker joined Fenerbahçe on Turkey’s deadline day, Tottenham implemented a clause in his contract, which will allow them to recall him early.

It’s also claimed Janssen wouldn’t be brought back by Tottenham so he can rejoin Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, but the intention is to sell the forward to Serie A leaders Napoli.

Given Harry Kane’s impressive form and the signing of Fernando Llorente last summer, it’s unlikely the Netherlands international would be in the plans of Pochettino for the remainder of the season.

Fenerbahce manager Aykut Kocaman doesn’t want to lose Janssen despite the player scoring just two league goals, and subsequently officials from the Turkish giants will contact Tottenham about cancelling the clause.

The Turkish club should rest easy, because the claims are absolute nonsense. Even the craziest transfer rumours can sometimes turn out to be true, but this one is literally impossible.

Janssen has played for Tottenham this season, coming on for the dying seconds against Chelsea in August. This means he’s already represented two clubs so far this season, and wouldn’t be allowed to represent a third.

FIFA rules state players can only be registered with three clubs in one season, and only represent two of them. So unless Napoli want to sign Janssen to sit in the stands, it’s not happening.
