Coming extremely close to signing for Liverpool last season, Nabil Fekir remained at Lyon for the current campaign.
Helping his side to a current third place in Ligue 1 (three games left, one point ahead of fourth), the forward can still hope on playing in the Champions League next season if he stays put.
However, with contract renewal talks yet to be agreed upon, some doubt remains in Fekir’s future, and a move to England could still be on the cards with Tottenham reportedly interested.
According to fan website Olympique et Lyonnais, who aren’t normally in the regular exclusive business, Spurs are one of two sides who have taken an interest in Fekir ahead of the summer, joined by Milan in Italy.
With just one year left on his contract at the Groupama Stadium, it’s fair to surmise the 25-year-old will be cheaper than the £55m or so Liverpool were prepared to shell out last season, although no fee is mentioned in the article.
We’re guessing this would be just in case Christian Eriksen does decide to take a look elsewhere in the summer, as has been touted repeatedly by the foreign press.
Following worries with his knee (which were the alleged cause of his failed move to Anfield), Fekir has proven his fitness this season, playing 38 times for Lyon in all competitions, scoring 12 goals and assisting teammates seven times.
As for Tottenham, they are preparing to face Ajax in the return leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.
