Fanatik report if Besiktas sell Dusko Tosic in the January transfer window, they’ll use these funds to sign Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

The Serbian defender has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, with claims the Premier League side are lining up a bid for the player.

It’s been claimed Tottenham are weighing up an offer of €8m for Tosic, and Besiktas are prepared to sell the Serbia international after confirmation Croatian defender Domagoj Vida will be joining the Turkish side.

This would then allow Besiktas to move in on Manchester United’s Fellaini in the new year. It’s a complicated situation, and Tottenham may well be being used as a prop.

Whilst Mauricio Pochettino’s interest in Tosic is stated as concrete, that the player turns 33 years of age in january is just one reason to doubt it.

Fellaini has yet to commit himself to Manchester United, and with his contract set to expire next summer he can talk to other clubs in the new year with regards to a pre-contract agreement.

Besiktas would prefer to sign the Manchester United midfielder in January rather than wait until the summer. However, Felliani seems to be very much in Jose Mourinho’s plans, and it’s unlikely the Manchester United coach would let him leave in the next window.

So, as far as the Turkish media are concerned, Besiktas are dependent on selling an ageing defender to Tottenham, and getting some goodwill from Mourinho. They must be optimistic souls.
