Tottenham fans, we know it’s been a tough time for you when it comes to transfers, but your club have now been linked with a move for Juventus’ Douglas Costa.

We say ‘linked’ but that term should be used very loosely in this case, as Calciomercato.it literally dedicate one line to the details, saying that Spurs are interested in the Brazilian.

That’s it, nothing else, but, and this is the kicker, should they come forward with an offer for the Juventus winger, then there’s the possibility the Serie A champions could use talks to make a move for Christian Eriksen, a long-time target for Fabio Paratici.

The attacking midfielder’s contract at Wembley is set to expire at the end of the 2019-20 season, meaning next summer, should Daniel Levy fail to renew his star, would be the last opportunity for the club to make a decent amount of money on the Dane.

Considering the lack of transfer activity in both the last transfer windows, we find it hard to believe the first thing Tottenham will do is splash the cash on a forward who has struggled to have any kind of meaningful impact at the league leaders this season.

Then again, it wouldn’t be the first time the club have rescued a struggling Brazilian winger from another Champions League club.

Costa has only played 618 minutes of Serie A football so far, totalling 24 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and picking up two assists.
