It was inevitable that when Jose Mourinho took over at Tottenham there would soon be links to Lille players. When the manager then snatched a couple of the backroom staff from the Ligue 1 club those assumptions only increased.
And it’s not too difficult to believe there may well be something in it. Mourinho spent a lot of time with Lille whilst he was out of work and has good relations, going back some time, with their transfer guru Luis Campos.
Le10 Sport now report Tottenham are ‘very interested’ in Boubakary Soumaré, and have been watching the 20 year old midfielder closely.
It’s claimed several other clubs are also interested and two have already made concrete offers. Those unnamed clubs are from the Premier League and Serie A, and Le10 goes on to mention interest from Manchester United, Napoli and Inter Milan.
Campos presence could help Mourinho, but it’s explained Lille aren’t yet completely sure what they want to do with the player in the winter market.
One possibility is selling Soumaré and then keeping him on loan for the rest of the current season.
