Tottenham Hotspur are pulled back into the Steven Nzonzi situation by Marca on Thursday, only for the Spanish newspaper to say there now appears little chance of a Premier League move for the player.

It’s Arsenal and Everton who have been the clubs most linked recently, but it’s only the two London clubs who are mentioned by Marca on Thursday.

Nzonzi has much wanted a Premier League move this summer and it was thought being called up for France’s World Cup squad would improve his chances. That Didier Deschamps’ men won the tournament and that Nzonzi got some minutes further underlined that.

But it also gave Sevilla confidence of a better fee and that could be what dampened any Tottenham interest.

Marca say interest from Tottenham has been ‘fading with the passage of time’.

The Spanish newspaper reiterates that Nzonzi wants to leave but that no club has been willing to pay his €40m clause at Sevilla.

Now there’s an anxious wait for the midfielder, and if his move to England fails he’ll have to look at other possible options like AS Roma.
