For the past two days, several reports in England have mentioned Tottenham Hotspur’s interest to sign Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci.
It was also explained the defender has asked to leave the Serie A side in the winter market.
This was picked up by the English press after Italian journalist Giulio Mola took to Twitter to state the 35-year-old could end up at Tottenham in January.
Calciomercato have taken a look at this claim and have shared their own information on the possibility of the 35-year-old joining Spurs.
The Italy international’s current deal runs down in 2024 and earns €7m per season. The outlet insists he has not asked the Old Lady to sanction his sale in the next window.
He has played under Tottenham manager Antonio Conte in the past, when the manager was in charge of the Serie A side and Italy, but a possible reunion of the pair at the north London seems unlikely.
That’s because Tottenham’s interest to sign the centre-back in January and also his desire to leave the club are ‘not confirmed’.
Bonucci’s position at Juve may change next summer, if they continue to struggle for the rest of this season. In that case, both the player and Massimiliano Allegri could risk their positions at Juventus.
That isn’t the situation now, though, as Calciomercato explain that Bonucci and the manager have no intention of leaving Juventus.
