Werder Bremen have scored 46 goals in the league this season and Max Kruse has been directly involved in 15 [eight goals and seven assists].
The 31-year-old’s contract with his current employer runs out at the end of the season, meaning he will be available on a free transfer if he decides not to renew.
The Bundesliga outfit are keen on retaining the player beyond this campaign and are working on handing him a new deal. However, they face tough competition, if reports are to be believed.
According to Sky in Germany, Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur are ‘intensively involved’ in chasing Kruse ahead of the summer transfer window.
It’s explained the former Wolfsburg man has already made clear a decision on his future will only be taken at the end of this term.
For him to continue with Werder Bremen, they will have to qualify for next season’s European competition and if not, it will improve foreign clubs’ chances of landing him on a free transfer.
Bremen are currently eighth in the table with 39 points, trailing sixth place Bayer Leverkusen by three points and six points behind fourth place Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Hypothetically, Kruse could be a replacement for Fernando Llorente at Tottenham, but he may not take so kindly to sitting on the Spurs bench and admiring Harry Kane from a distance.
Tottenham and Kruse isn’t really a long lasting rumour and the claims aren’t widespread at this stage, so the move would be a surprise… for that and the lack of playing time available.
