Ever since we started the season and Marcelo Brozovic entered the final year of his contract, rumours sending him to the Premier League have been rife.

Tottenham have been at the heart of it all, which isn’t surprising following their appointment of Fabio Paratici as director of football, who knows the Serie A market very well from his time at Juventus.

Spurs have also since brought in Antonio Conte as their manager to replace Nuno Espírito Santo, and the Italian knows everything about the Croatian midfielder, having managed him last season at Inter.

They won the Serie A title together, and therefore a reunion in London could have been an enticing prospect for the player.

However, he has always made it clear, doing so again on Thursday on social media, that he ideally would like to stay at Inter, and everyone is hard at work to make that happen.

Tuttosport cover the situation on Friday, claiming there’s only €1m standing in the way of that renewal, which is the distance between the club’s offer and Brozovic’s demands.

It’s said that he is likely to want around €7.5m, while Inter could go as far as €6.5m including bonuses, thus the €1m difference.

There are many clubs waiting to see what happens, with a long queue comprising of Tottenham, Manchester United, París Saint-Germain, Atlético Madrid, Bayern Munich and even Newcastle United having all ‘informed themselves via his entourage’, and Tuttosport speculate that ‘it’s possible that someone has offered the player a wage of €8m’, which would trump Inter’s offer.

We’ll have to wait and see, but there is every chance he turns down more money to stay where he currently is, meaning Tottenham, if they are really interested, will need to be extra convincing.
