The media closest to Real Madrid continue to worry about just what will happen with Gareth Bale this summer.

It would be difficult for it to be much clearer that Madrid want to sell the Welshman, but he’s not budging right now and there’s not much interest coming in.

Tottenham continue to be wheeled forward as a possibility, perhaps more out of hope for Madrid than expectation. Tuesday’s edition of Marca once again explains Spurs are an option for the player, but the club couldn’t get near the required transfer fee or Bale’s wages.

It’s explained several ‘formulas’ could be studied to make a deal happen, and that Tottenham ‘could include players in the operation’.

That, once again, sounds incredibly optimistic on behalf of Real Madrid.

Marca don’t say so, but the idea would be more Christian Eriksen than Vincent Janssen, and Tottenham are hardly going to send one of their better players plus cash for Bale, given his injuries.

Interestingly, Marca reiterate that a loan move is possible.

Who could rule out Daniel Levy tying Florentino Perez in knots and selling Eriksen for €100m on deadline day, with Bale, and maybe Dani Ceballos, going the other way on a no-cost loan.

In Madrid, they had ‘expected’ Manchester United would rock up and sign Bale, so far they’ve shown no signs of doing so.
