Towards the end of October, we covered claims from Italy that Tottenham Hotspur are in the picture to sign Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso.
Fast forward to December and Calciomercato have a report on the north London club’s interest in the 23-year-old.
The left-back convinced Massimiliano Allegri in the summer and has been a regular for the Serie A side this season. He managed a goal and two assists from 14 league games and the outlet says he probably wouldn’t have imagined having such a ‘positive start’ to the season.
It’s said clubs in England have followed the player’s performances in recent months and only Tottenham are named in the report. They state Spurs are in the ‘front row’ in the chase for the former Genoa man.
Calciomercato claim the Old Lady’s ‘will is clear’ and Cambiaso will ‘only’ leave if there is an offer ‘above €20/25m’. His current deal lasts until 2027.
Destiny Udogie has been the first-choice left-back for Ange Postecoglou this season and his fine form saw Tottenham reward him with a new long-term deal earlier this week.
Despite being in the ‘front row’ to sign Cambiaso, it may not be a priority for Tottenham to sign a left-back, at least in January, considering they have a need to strengthen other areas.
