The London Evening Standard have been one of a number of English media outlets to suggest recently that Wolfsburg are keen on signing Vincent Janssen in the summer. It’s even been claimed an approach was made during the January transfer window, but it’s a mystery to the German media, who simply aren’t reporting on the interest.
If Wolfsburg were keen to sign Janssen, as they were last summer, then the first place it would likely be leaked is in Germany, but there’s certainly no widespread coverage of a potential move.
When Janssen made it very clear he wanted to join Tottenham over other options, Wolfsburg moved on. They were able to pick up Mario Gomez and the 31 year old has been doing a reasonable job for the club.
Whilst it would be no surprise if they looked to strengthen their striking department in the summer, Janssen interest simply isn’t a big thing in the German media.
The club which has seemed most interested in Janssen recently is Galatasaray, with the Turkish media all over the potential transfer in January.
There will be takers for Janssen if Tottenham decide to let the player leave in the summer, either on loan or permanently, but right now those possible takers don’t seem to be making themselves known.
