Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has revealed you don’t want to get on the wrong side of Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino. Alli has progressed into one of the best young players in Europe under the Argentine after the England international signed for Tottenham from MK Dons.
Speaking to FourFourTwo, Alli was asked what it’s was like playing for Pochettino at Tottenham. The youngster has a lot of affection for the former Argentina international, but said he can switch. Alli revealed the Tottenham boss showed him and Eric Dier videos of him playing in Spain, which included the defender showing his aggressive side.
“He can switch. You don’t want to get the wrong side of him. He showed me and Eric clips of him playing at Espanyol: some were of him scoring goals, others were of him clattering people,” said the England international.
Alli signed for Tottenham in 2015, and his performances in his first season with the North London side earned him a place in England’s Euro 2016 squad. The 20-year-old has in recent months reproduced the form which won him the PFA Young Player of the Year award for 2015/16, with Pochettino being instrumental in the player’s rise.
Pochettino’s message has clearly got through to Dele Alli and any slackening off may see the Argentine get out his boots and dish out training pitch clatterings.
