According to a claim in the Italian media, Southampton are showing an interest in AC Milan youngster Riccardo Tonin. The 16 year old is currently playing for AC Milan’s U17 team.

TMW report both Southampton and Tottenham are tracking Tonin, but it’s not mentioned if the Premier League sides will come in with a bid for the forward.

It’s likely the clubs will see Tonin as a player for the future, and if he was brought to England he’d be placed in their youth academy.

Either Southampton or Tottenham would be able to sign Toinin as the young forward turned 16 years old earlier in the year, and therefore they can offer the player a professional contract.

In June Tonin made the step up to AC Milan’s U17 squad after coming through the Serie A side’s youth system. The Italian has also represented his country at youth level.

Southampton and Tottenham are continually linked with the same players, which could still be a leftover from Mauricio Pochettino taking some recruitment staff with him to White Hart Lane.
