Giovani Lo Celso is about to complete his departure from Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports.
Several sources now claim the midfielder is close to moving back to La Liga. One of them is EFE journalist Fernando Czyz, who says the player is joining Villarreal on a loan deal.
It’s recalled that Lo Celso had ‘flirted’ with Lyon and turned down the chance of joining Sevilla. Now he’s said to be on his way to the Yellow Submarine on a temporary deal which includes an option to make it permanent.
Lo Celso’s move to Villarreal is also reported in his home country, where journalist Cesar Luis Merlo claims it’s now ‘confirmed’ that the move is happening. He also says that this is a loan until the summer with an option to buy.
None of the reports say how much the buying option is worth, while Transfermarkt currently consider the player to have a value of €22m.
The midfielder struggled with injuries at Tottenham this season, getting only nine Premier League appearances, and was unable to convince Antonio Conte he’d be able to fight for a place in the starting team.
