A Bola Carvalho Slimani Adrein Silva Joao Mario Rui PatricioTottenham Hotspur has been a club long left to the side when the Portuguese press go rumour crazy. That’s changed in recent weeks, with stories saying Spurs are keen on SC Braga’s Rafa Silva, and Sporting’s Adrien Silva.

Perhaps it’s Tottenham getting themselves into the Champions League which has made such a difference, they’re now seen as one of the very top English clubs.

It’s not all conjecture, the Premier League club had an official watch Benfica beat Tondela at the weekend, so it would appear they’re considering dipping a toe into the Portuguese market at some stage.

In their Monday edition, Record link five Sporting players with possible exits before the end of the current transfer window. Tottenham find themsleves linked with two.

The motivation for the article is a comment from Sporting’s manage Jorge Jesus over the weekend: “Sporting have five players who will be coveted until the close of the market.”

The two Tottenham are linked with are Adrein Silva, he of previous links, and Islam Slimani. The latter is an Algerian striker who is reportedly keen on a transfer, he’s been linked with Spurs previously but probably isn’t needed any longer.

Adrien has a €45m buyout clause, and Slimani’s is €30m.
