Bayern Munich are not interested in a move for Tottenham star Son Heung-min this summer, despite claims to the contrary.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say the German champions simply could not afford a move for the South Korean.
Recent reports in England claimed that Bayern were looking to sign Son this summer and had put out feelers ahead of a possible move.
SportBILD take a look at that rumour today, though, and insist there is no chance of any such deal happening.
They explain that is currently holding contract talk with Tottenham, who are keen to extend his deal despite the fact it expires in 2023.
The forward is reportedly demanding £200,000 a week, around £12.1m a year, and so an extension is ‘pending’ at this moment in time.
As a result, rumours of a move to Bayern have ‘suddenly’ reappeared ‘once again’.
The newspaper explains that, according to their information, while a player of Son’s quality is ‘always interesting’, he has a market value of €85m, and that ‘would not be affordable’.
Additionally, Bayern already have Thomas Müller for the position that Son occupies, and he has a deal until 2023.
Instead, they believe this latest rumours are simply an agent ‘trying to put a bit of pressure’ on Tottenham as part of an attempt to get more money out of them.
This is all backed up by Sport 1, who say there are no ‘concrete talks’ between Bayern and Son and there are unlikely to be any either.
So, if you happen to see this rumour this week, know that as far as they’re concerned in Germany, it’s absolutely not a thing.
