Tottenham Hotspur currently have no fit centre-backs in their squad. Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies are all out injured and this may need to be addressed in during the January window

A new name has emerged as a potential target and journalist Alessandro Giovanni Pagliarini claims Tottenham are showing interest in Atalanta defender Ben Godfrey, who only signed from Everton in the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old has failed to settle at Atalanta and has not adapted to Gian Piero Gasperini’s methods.

Tottenham have ‘asked for information’ about the player, with the journalist also reporting interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest.

It seems Spurs want to seize the opportunity of a potential cut-price move, with Godfrey having played just once in Serie A this season and hasn’t featured since the opening game of the season.

It remains to be seen if Ange Postecoglou’s side want a loan deal or a permanent deal, but that could become clear soon.
