Valencia remain keen on signing Tottenham’s Bryan Gil this summer and believe he will fit in perfectly with Gennaro Gattuso’s style of play.
That’s according to El Desmarque, who cover the player’s future today and how he remains in the Spanish side’s plans for this window.
Gil spent the second half of last season on loan with Valencia and proved to be a massive hit, establishing himself as a key player under Jose Bordalas with a series of impressive performances.
The Spanish coach has since been sacked and appears set to be replaced by Gattuso, which would mean different transfer targets moving forwards.
However, it appears the Tottenham loanee is still on the list of options, with the website reporting that Gattuso’s arrival could be ‘very favourable’ to Gil’s chances of staying.
They explain that the Italian’s style of play bets heavily on offensive and creative play, and the wingers are important to this.
In such a possession-based game, Gil could ‘benefit a lot’ as he would have less defensive tasks and be able to focus on attacking, the area where he flourishes.
Whether Valencia can get him again, though, is entirely depedent on Tottenham. At the moment, they aren’t counting on the youngster as Conte wants to focus on more physical, experienced players.
Valencia have made it clear they want Gil back, but Tottenham have instead made it clear they are listening to all the offers they receive before making a decision.
However, the Spanish side have a ‘certain advantage’ as they know that Spurs are ‘very happy’ with the progress Gil has shown at the Mestalla.
The player’s opinion is also key, meaning they will listen to what he wants for next year, and he’s already made it very clear he would be delighted with a longer stay at Valencia if it is available.
