Tottenham Hotspur have joined the chase to sign Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot, according to a report from Italy.

The midfielder has been a regular for the Serie A side this term after coming close to leaving them for Manchester United in the summer. The €10m net per year salary demanded by his mother, Veronique, who is also his agent, put them off.

His contract runs down in June 2023 and Calciomercato state the Turin club intend to tie the 27-year-old down to a new deal.

It’s said Massimiliano Allegri’s side should have started his renewal process much earlier. The France international now has an advantage and should he continue to impress for his country at the 2022 World Cup, he will ‘strengthen his status as a top player’.

This and the salary demand could make things complicated for the Italian club, and Juve would not be able to offer more than what he currently [€7m per year] earns.

On the other hand, Tottenham are one of the Premier League sides who are ready to meet the request of €10m per year made by Rabiot’s mother in the summer.

Spurs chief Fabio Paratici was in charge of Juventus when they signed the Frenchman on a free transfer in 2019. It’s claimed Tottenham are ‘great admirer’ of Rabiot and therefore, Paratici will ‘try to register’ the north London club in the race to sign him.

Calciomercato claim if the midfielder continues at Juve after this season, then it would be because of Allegri.
