With Hugo Lloris not getting any younger, there will come a time when Tottenham will have to think about replacing the France international, and while they can always buy someone from another club, they could also look at their youth to see if there are any worthy successors.
In Belgium, one such player believed to have a chance was Jonathan De Bie, but it appears Spurs aren’t that keen on the 19-year-old, with Wayne Burnett, their U23 manager, preferring other options throughout the season.
De Bie has only played four games from a possible 15, but his outings weren’t all that inspiring as he conceded 10 goals.
Joshua Oluwayemi, Brandon Austin and Alfie Whiteman have all started in his stead throughout the other fixtures, with the Belgian spending more time than not on the bench.
This lack of faith, even if it could be seen as warranted, has led De Bie to explore his options, especially with his Tottenham contract expiring in the summer.
In hope of finding himself a new club, the Belgium U19 international is currently trialling elsewhere, and Het Nieuwsblad report he is currently with Gent in the Jupiler Pro League, taking part in their training sessions.
Whether he signs, though, remains to be seen.
