Things may be a little miserable at Tottenham these days, but it seems that misery can’t destroy everything.

That’s at least if El 1900 are anything to go by, as they insist duo Alejo Veliz and Bryan Gil’s friendship hasn’t been ruined by their Tottenham experience.

They explain that the two players formed a friendship at Tottenham while there together, sharing a similar situation as both were handed ‘few opportunities’ in the first team.

They’ve both since departed, albeit on loan, with Veliz heading to Espanyol and Gil currently on loan at Girona, where they will both meet this weekend.

That will be an opportunity for the pair to reignite the friendship they built at Tottenham, and which was threated by Gil’s recommendation to Veliz that he join Sevilla on loan last season.

That didn’t turn out to be beneficial for the striker as he spent more time on the bench and played less than in the Premier League.

At Christmas last year, Gil even took Veliz around the Andalusian capital to sell it to him, something it seems the striker doesn’t hold against him.

“He always spoke very well of the club. Before coming I asked him about everything. He told me to accept because everything was a 10,” he explained.

Instead, they have become ‘companions in hardship’, with their shared experiences at Tottenham building solid foundations that were not torn apart by that miserable experience in Seville.
