It appears that until Harry Kane announces he will retire at Tottenham or signs a new eight-year contract, rumours of him leaving the club will continue to circulate.
The purple patch of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has, strangely enough (read sarcasm), not done a lot to stop rumours of a move to Bayern Munich either, meaning talk of an exit is still rife.
There’s no denying the German club do miss Robert Lewandowski, and it’s been said numerous times that Kane could be the man to replace him if they can prise him away from Tottenham.
That has yet to happen, and would cost a lot of money, but if a story from Italy is to be believed, much like they did when they went after Lautaro Martínez, Spurs are looking at potential replacements.
The latest name is Victor Osimhen, currently having the time of his life under Luciano Spalletti at Napoli, where he has scored nine goals and assisted another two in 12 appearances so far this season.
The story comes from Rudy Galetti in Italy, who, on his own website, claims that Tottenham see the Nigeria international as ‘the ideal replacement for Harry Kane’, who has been ‘in Bayern’s sights for some time now’.
He adds ‘both deals could go through next summer, resulting in an incredible domino of strikers’.
We’ll see it when we believe it, but there’s no denying Osimhen could be a good alternative to Kane should the Englishman decide to try something new after so many years at Tottenham and so few medals in his display cabinet.
