Wanting to break through at Tottenham after a very difficult first season at White Hart Lane, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou decided to stay in London to try and somehow displace the regular starters and convince Mauricio Pochettino he deserves a regular spot in his first-team.

Exploding onto the scene in his one season at Marseille, the winger attracted a lot of attention, shining in a rather poor team, much like Michy Batshuayi, and both earned themselves a move to the Premier League.

While the Belgian’s career at Stamford Bridge is starting to pick up, the Tottenham winger has only played 38 minutes of first team football this season, hindered by a foot injury early on.

Back in May, the player gave a very honest interview to L’Equipe, blaming himself for a lot of his struggles during the 2016-17 season, but admitted: “I can’t live another season like this one. I’ll need to play more”.

Wanting to fight for a spot in Didier Deschamps’ squad for the 2018 World Cup, the France U21 international might have to aim for the 2020 Euros instead, as even an in-form Anthony Martial struggles to make the cut in a squad filled with talent.

Still, the season is long, and N’Koudou could be given the chance to prove himself, already appearing a few times off the bench in the Champions League and the Carabao Cup.

Convincing Pochettino to start him over the likes of Heung-Min Son, Dele Alli or even Moussa Sissoko will be difficult, but with the talent at his disposal, it’s certainly not impossible.
