Tottenham are one of three clubs interested in Napoli right-back Elseid Hysaj but are unlikely to convince the Italians into a sale.
Right-back is a particular problem area for Tottenham, with their decision to sell Kieran Trippier in the summer having haunted them for the first half of this campaign.
Youngster Kyle Walker-Peters is yet to step up into the role while Serge Aurier has failed to impress either.
Finding a long-term solution to the problem is likely to be high on José Mourinho’s wishlist, and it seems one player they are keen on is Hysaj.
According to Tuttosport, the defender is being ‘followed’ by three clubs and Tottenham are one of them. Roma and Juventus are also keen.
However, they will likely have to wait until the end of the season to try and get their man, as Napoli aren’t keen on letting anyone go at present.
Left-back Faouzi Ghoulam is ‘in the pits’, but Napoli aren’t looking at other options and so that ‘could hold back’ the likes of Hysaj from making a move.
Napoli don’t intend to look at the situation until the ‘last weeks’ of January, meaning Tottenham may be presented with a late opportunity, although the summer is more likely.
