Tottenham flop Sergio Reguilón is a potential target for Sevilla in the summer as they look to solve their issues in that position.
That’s according to Orgullo Biri, who say the Tottenham defender is being eyed by his former club ahead of the summer transfer window.
Reguilón is currently out of the picture at Tottenham and set to be a free agent in the summer when his current contract deal expires. Neither he nor Spurs are keen to extend that.
He’s managed only 242 minutes in the Premier League and FA Cup this season and is keen to move on to get his career back on track. The fact he has recently changed agents is also seen as a sign that he’ll be on the move.
Club such as Besiktas and Galatasaray have already shown an interest in signing him on a free, but Sevilla could be in the mix.
Orgullo Biri report that a return to his former club is ‘gaining momentum’ as the Spanish side have had trouble finding a suitable left-back in recent years.
Reguilón left his mark on the club with a successful spell earlier in his career and could be an ‘ideal solution’ for team as they could take advantage of his knowledge of the club, the game system and Spanish football in general. In other words, he could slot in quickly and not need to adapt.
Now we’d urge caution as this feels like Orgullo Biri making an assumption and it’s an easy one to make given Reguilón has played for Sevilla in the past. In fact, given his misery at Tottenham, they could be seen as the last club he was properly comfortable at.
We, though, would not be surprised to see them interested in the summer given he’ll be available on a free and Sevilla’s finances are so tight.
