On Tuesday, we covered an article in the Italian media regarding the potential transfer of Steven Bergwijn from Tottenham to Milan.
The forward has found game time hard to come by under Antonio Conte since the Italian’s arrival, and the purchase of Dejan Kulusevski in the January transfer window did little to allay his fears of fewer minutes on the pitch.
Following Ajax Amsterdam’s almost desperate attempts to sign him in the past, he could be presented with the option of moving to Italy instead of returning to The Netherlands, something he was reportedly intrigued about.
Well, Gazzetta dello Sport have a big article on the matter, explaining exactly where he would fit in Stefano Pioli’s side, especially since he would be in direct competition with Rafael Leao, currently one of the stars at San Siro.
The idea to be able to play the two would be to make him play on the right hand side of the attack, and it’s made clear by the outlet that the Tottenham player is ‘perfect’ for the way Milan play.
Currently ‘monitored’ by the Serie A side, they point out that due to his current situation at Spurs, it’s normal for the 24-year-old ’to look around’ at other options on the market.
Not only that, but a move to Italy could be what’s needed to ‘relaunch’ his career, which has started to stagnate in London, and Pioli appears to be prepared to give him the opportunity to get everything back on track.
Just down the right hand side, not the left.
