Tottenham Hotspur have had Dušan Vlahović on their agenda for a while.

Faced with the possibility of losing Harry Kane, the north London club identified the Fiorentina star as a transfer target.

Kane is wanted by Manchester City, but the Premier League champions haven’t managed to convince Daniel Levy to let the England captain leave so far. The situation has now forced City to identify Vlahović as their new target.

Journalist Enzo Bucchioni mentions this in his column for Firenze Viola, and states Nuno Espírito Santo’s side were observing the Serbia international as they feared losing Kane in the summer window.

Spurs maintained interest in signing Vlahović and Nikola Milenković, but with Levy refusing to let Kane leave the club, Bucchioni says there was ‘no longer any reason’ for them to bring in a new No.9 in the ongoing window.

Bucchioni adds ‘all contacts’ between Tottenham and the Serie A side were ‘first suspended’ for the 21-year-old, and ‘then abandoned’.

Therefore, Spurs’ ‘negotiation ended’ for the Serbian and, according to the Italian journalist, the club is out of the race to sign Vlahović.
