Claims from Argentina of Tottenham Hotspur having an agreement for Wilmar Barrios won’t stop despite the Premier League club seemingly denying their interest in the player.

The story has been around for some months, even predating the summer transfer window, and the idea is that Spurs have an agreement with the player’s agent and would simply have to please Boca Juniors with around £20m or so.

In the vast majority of claims it’s explained Tottenham haven’t actually made an offer for the Colombian, but that Boca would be expecting such to arrive eventually.

Marca now push Real Madrid interest and as part of their article on the situation they state Tottenham have been ‘first to submit an offer’, going against other claims. That would see Daniel Levy and his transfer negotiators trying to push ahead of Madrid and other competition for the player.

Real Madrid know they need to recruit in the middle of the pitch and they’ve sent someone to Argentina to compile reports on Barrios. Those reports have left the club ‘more than impressed’.

If Tottenham’s denial of interest is true then perhaps they need to rethink.
